Submissions
We are now accepting submissions for our inaugural issue. Please follow the guidelines below to be considered for publication
Fiction & Poetry looks for work in, of course, fiction and of poetry. All submissions will be considered for both our print publication and online magazine. We also accept submissions of visual art which may be used in either our print or online magazine, or on our website. In preparing to submit, please observe the following guidelines.
All submissions must be made through Submission Manager. Please format your manuscripts with one-inch margins, twelve-point font, in Times New Roman or other, comparably clear typeface. All submissions must be previously unpublished. If your work is not used in the immediate issue, we may accept it for a future publication instead.
When submitting to any of the categories of work we consider, please do not include any identifying information in the document itself, or we will be unable to accept it for publication. We welcome simultaneous submissions, but if your work is accepted elsewhere, please withdraw your submission. Authors will retain their rights to their work after the work is published in Fiction & Poetry.
We accept submissions year-round, but we ask that you wait at least one month before submitting again in the same category. Please do not inquire about the status of a submission unless it has been longer than six months since your submission was received. We do not require cover letters, but feel free to include one which indicates the length of your submission and any previous publications the author wishes to note.
Unfortunately, we are not in a position to offer payment for works selected for publication at this time.
Fiction
We accept fiction in three categories based on length, but we are unlikely to publish in print anything over 8,000 words. Please submit either under our Flash Fiction section (<1,500 words), our Short Story section (<8,000 words), or in our Novelette section (<16,000 words).
We have no strict genre limitations, though we endeavor first and foremost to publish literary fiction.
Poetry
You may submit multiple poems in a single document, but please do not submit more than three poems at a time, totaling no more than six pages.
Visual Art
Visual art submissions may be accepted for use in digital or in print, be it in editions of the magazine or on the website, for design purposes. We are interested in all manner of visual work, be it photography, sketches, paintings, collages, mixed media, digital works, etc.
Please submit no more than three images at a time. If the images are part of a larger set or series you wish to be considered, please note as much in your cover letter, and we will reach out if we need to review the remaining pieces.
